The slim are getting slimmer with the new ¼-inch 3-megapixel CMOS image sensor the slim phones are bound to get ultra slimmer.
Developed by Samsung this new 1.75um-size pixel will help in reducing the overall size of phone by 30 per cent. At present the commonly used CMOS image sensors are 2.25um pixel 1/3-inch lens opening with 3-megapixel CIS.
Samsung plans to mass produce this new image sensor and should be available for commercial use by first quarter of 2007.
